The opposition led by the former Prime minister, Raila Odinga, has been silent on the current NYS scam that has hit the nation.
Until the famous handshake between the opposition chief and the president, Mr Odinga had always been on the forefront in unveiling and condemning corruption in the country.
However, his silence on the current multi-billion scam at the NYS has taken aback many Kenyans.
The silence of the opposition has since forced the leader of the majority in the national assembly, Aden Duale, to call on the opposition to join hands with the government and help fight graft.
Duale who was addressing the media on Tuesday in his parliament office also called on the investigative authorities to fast-track their actions and make sure victims of graft face the full force law.
"It is also the cardinal responsibility of the opposition to support the president and his deputy as they purge corrupt elements from the system. The investigative authorities as established under the constitution have the mandate to go full swing and have those implicated in the graft face justice in court," said Duale.
54 people including NYS Director General, public officers and business entities are among those that the Director of Public Prosecution, Noordin Haji, has charged in court.
Among the charges levelled against them are a conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption, abuse of office among others.
Mr Duale also said that parliament will help in the fight against graft and make sure that government funds are not misused by few individuals.
"Parliament will not sit back as public funds are looted by selfish individuals," added Mr Duale.
