National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of favouritism in the distribution of the voter verification kits.
Speaking on Friday in Garissa Town, the lawmaker noted that his Garissa Township constituency had been given few kits compared to other regions, challenging IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba to come out clean on the matter.
“We can see that the CEO is playing games with us. You have an agenda for Garissa Township. I am not happy with the way they are doing things,” he noted.
“They need to come clean and explain how they ended up giving my constituency, which has the highest number of registered voters in Northeastern, such a small number of kits," he added.
The legislator further threatened to write to the electoral agency's chair Wafula Chebukati to question on the criteria used to distribute the kits.
He exuded confidence in recapturing his seat during the August polls, despite facing stiff competition from Wiper Deputy Party leader and former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim.
“I know that more than 54,000, out of the 55,000, are my voters. That is why my opponents are busy roaming the streets of Nairobi but cannot come to the ground because it is as if they have already lost,” he stated.
