Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale has distanced himself from claims that he is inciting violence against non-Somalis in Garissa town.
Duale has been under pressure to clear his name from claims that he plans to direct youth to evict non-Somalis in Garissa town ahead of the August polls.
Former Parliament Speaker Farah Maalim on Friday recorded a statement at the Criminal Investigations Directorate asking the police to arrest Duale over the claims.
"An audio clip circulating online with comments allegedly made by me is fake and crude propaganda in its raw form," Duale posted on his official Facebook page on Friday.
"I have since learnt that the cheap audio is the work of a bygone era politician. His attempt to cook fake news collapsed miserably."
In the video claimed to be Duale's somebody is heard telling people from the Kamba community to leave Garissa.
The voice is also heard telling non-Somalis to leave Garissa town before August.
"Someone should come and tell me, I was there and that I am the owner of this tape, confirm the venue and the youths who were being addressed and any other evidence," he added.
"This is concocted propaganda and the clip was corrupted. All my recent functions, I have posted online on my verified accounts."
