Kenya has taken a wrong turn and leaders like the Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale should moderate their speeches. A suggestion that the multitude that came out to receive former Prime Minister Raila Odinga were from one community amounts to what were are trying to avoid, ethnic profiling.

As the country was paying last respect to a celebrated academician, the late Governor Wahome Gakuru, Duale used this opportunity to allege that everyone on the streets on Friday was from Raila’s community, the Luo.

“Those who were demonstrating with him yesterday were from one community,” Duale said.

This is an unfortunate statement. Its timing has an ill motive. The MP should have looked back in 2007/2008 before uttering such statements.

Does Duale want all Kenyans who are aggrieved with the Jubilee government to come out and demonstrate? Is it true that the said “Lord of war” enjoys massive support countrywide including Duale’s hometown, Garissa? Is it true that we have non-Luo counties that support the People’s Assembly initiative? Is there anything that Raila or any Luo has fought for that Duale is enjoying today?

We are all Kenyans.
