National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has slammed the Opposition's Nasa, after it threatened to boycott the August 8, elections.

The National Super Alliance (Nasa) said there will be no elections, if an appeal filed by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), is accepted. IEBC wants the Appellate Court to overturn a High Court ruling which says presidential election results announced at the constituency level, should be final. The agency wants the results be declared final, by its chairman. According to the Commission, the Constitution allows it to declare all winners during elections. However, Nasa principals are opposed to this. They said IEBC's plot was to rig elections, and would not allow the close, overturned.

Duale however dismissed them saying they were not the only rivals that the ruling Jubilee government was facing, and so, elections would go as planned.

"There are over 13 presidential aspirants who Jubilee is facing. So they are not the only ones who will be part of the presidential elections. They can as well boycott. Elections will go on as planned,'' said the Garissa Township MP, Monday.
