National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale has welcomed the Supreme Court's validation of President Uhuru Kenyatta's October 26 re-election.
Addressing the media outside the court immediately after the ruling on Monday, the Garissa Township member of parliament who termed the as ruling the best with regards to bringing to an end the electioneering period,hailed the bench for refusing to be daunted by the current political activities.
''The ruling was good and we expected it.It is also impressive that the Judiciary has demonstrated its independence and has not given in to pressure from the political arena especially the opposition,'' he said.
The lawmaker called for peace in the country urging any objecting side to comply with the outcome as the Jubilee government awaits coronation to lead for another 5-year term.''We should now do away with the political issue.Leaders and citizens should now let go of their political hard stands and pray for peace,unity and co-existence among all Kenyans,'' he said.
While upholding the election,the bench threw out the petitions filed by ex-Kilome lawmaker Harun Mwau and the Khelef Khalif and Njonjo Mue duo terming saying that they hold no water.
