National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale has called upon Kenyan to read the constitution before launching attacks on Members of parliament (MPs) aligned to Jubilee over what opposition terms as controversial election law amendments.
According to a local daily, Duale said that time has come for Kenyans to embrace noble changes for the sake of future generations.
The Garissa MP said that the leaders of Jubilee have good intentions by pushing for the amendments.
The lawmaker took to his Twitter and wrote:"Through the amendment, we seek to ensure gaps that reprobate entities exploited during the August 8 presidential poll are sealed," read the tweet as quoted by The Star.
The leaders of the ruling party are seeking to pass a bill that will lead to the amendment of the Election Act and the Elections Offences Act and IEBC Act.
If the bill sails through, the manual transmitted results will have taken into serious consideration compared to the electronic ones.
The move was reached after leaders of the opposition insisted that they want to access the IEBC servers to determine whether Uhuru defeat NASA Presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga in a free and fair manner.
Duale also said that the amendments will ensure returning or presiding officers deliver on their mandate diligently.
"The Bill also makes it criminal for any presiding or returning officer to willfully submits an incomplete and/or altered or falsified document”
