Speaking at the Kasha Center in Garissa county Saturday, the Garissa Township Member of Parliament pledged to fully back Ruto's ambition and moves towards realizing the wish, observing that he stands the biggest chances of ascending to the top post.

"Ruto is the best leader to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta as our head of state and we have made a deliberate effort to ensure that the same is achieved," said the vocal leader.

This comes amid ongoing realignments ahead of the battle, with the most popular one being the evident growing political intimacy between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition's National Super Alliance.

The President and the Orange party boss have since faulted oppositions coming from Ruto's quarters regarding their newfound friendship, accusing a section of the DP's allies of sabotaging their national cohesion campaign.

According to Duale, however, they will not shun their push for Ruto's presidency.

"We are ready to be condemned and rebuked over our stand but we will not drop our bid," he added.

Ruto is likely to vie on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket.
