Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has waded into 2022 succession politics.
Duale said Deputy President William Ruto will take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta after serving his second and final term.
Speaking to Sunday Nation, the Garissa Township MP dismissed as 'wishful thinking' claims that Uhuru will abandon his deputy for Baringo Senator Gideon Moi when he retires.
There have been rumours that the President will pick Moi for the top seat in 2022.
This is after photos of Uhuru with retired President Daniel Arap Moi and his son Gideon went viral a day before Supreme Court ruling on November 20.
Some political pundits said this was an indication that Uhuru may choose to return favour to Mzee Moi- anointed him to succeed him in 2002- by picking his son for country's top job.
But Duale rubbished the claims, saying the President will go after his deputy.
"The chemistry between the President and the DP is one which most people don't understand. I have interacted with them closely and I can tell you, nothing can break that bond. The President recently said he will be the DP's chief campaigner in 2022. That speaks for itself," the MP said.
Both Ruto and Gideon- who currently do not see eye to eye- have declared interest to run for president after five years.
