While welcoming Cord’s suspension of its weekly protests to pave way for dialogue, Duale said that opposition leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula must first apologise to Kenyans.

Duale said that leaders have to apologise to the families of the supporters who were killed during the Monday protests.

“Cord leaders led by Raila Odinga owe Kenyans an apology over their chaotic protests,” said Duale in a statement sent to newsrooms on Wednesday.

Duale who is Garissa Township MP also wants the opposition to compensate business people whose property was looted and destroyed during the protests.

He said that as much as Cord wants dialogue the talks will take place through parliament’s Legal Affairs committee.

On Wednesday Cord said that it had suspended its weekly anti-IEBC protests.

In Kiambu, a section of residents have lauded Cord for suspending the weekly protests.

The locals now want the government to engage with the opposition and find solutions to the issues surrounding the electoral body.
