Former National Assembly Majority Leader and Garissa Town MP elect Aden Duale. He says NASA MPs threat to boycott the first sitting of Parliament is ill-advised, unwise' and they do so 'at their own risk'. [Photo: iq4news]Former National Assembly Majority Leader Adan Duale has told Nasa MPs to stay away from the first sitting of Parliament 'if they so wish as the sitting will still go on as scheduled'.Duale, speaking at Parliament buildings in Nairobi on Friday, said that the swearing-in of members and the election of speakers will not be affected by Nasa MPs absence."The constitutional provisions and procedures have been followed in summoning the house. The President has gazetted the day and the place of the first sitting of Parliament in accordance with Article 126 sub-article 2. The Clerk of the National Assembly and the Senate have today (Friday) gazetted officially the first sitting," Duale said.Duale castigated Nasa for what he termed as being 'dictatorial, disrespectful to rule of law and heavy-handedness'.He noted that Nasa has 'no respect for the constitution and the democratic institutions it creates'."I dare say that Nasa disparages the citizens of Kenya. Let me tell the Nasa brigade as follows; no vacuum exists in the office of the President. President Uhuru Kenyatta continues to hold office until the person next elected President is sworn-in, in accordance with Article 142 sub-article 1 of the constitution of Kenya," Duale added.
