The Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale has reacted to NASA leader Raila Odinga's sentiments that the only route Deputy President William Ruto can win the presidency in 2022 polls was through him.Raila on Thursday warned Ruto that he may not ascend to the presidency after President Uhuru Kenyatta retires without his support."Get it from me, Ruto will not win the presidency in 2022 without Raila," the former Prime Minister said during a burial in Kericho County. But Duale, a close ally of the DP, asked the opposition leader to make his position clear as far as 2022 elections are concerned."Raila first needs to confirm if he is retiring from politics or not before he makes such statement," he stated. The Majority Leader argued that if the NASA leader could openly declare he has quit politics, this would prompt voters in his strongholds to disengage and forge a political future, with an option of throwing their weight behind Ruto's bid."He needs to disengage the Nyanza voters because Ruto will seek for votes in that region as well other parts of Kenya," Duale said.Raila has remained silent on whether he will vie for the presidency in 2022.Ahead of 2013 polls, he signed an agreement with his NASA co-principals that he would not vie again but support one of them.
