Moments after a letter emerged from City Hall recommending him for deputy governor post, lawyer Miguna Miguna seems to have drawn a battle line in Kenya's ever dynamic political arena.

While both Mike Sonko and Miguna have remained mum over the new developments, Cliff Ombeta, Miguna's lawyer has since picked the letter being circulated on social media.

And Majority Leader Aden Duale now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to order Miguna's return to the country, two months after his second deportation.

"Miguna must come back. We shall do everything to ensure that he comes back. He is a Kenyan and when he comes back, Kenya will be more united," he said on Thursday morning at Eastleigh.

He added: "His absence makes a section of Kenyans disgruntled. The government must send him passport, receive him and he runs for a seat in 2022."

State House has maintained that Miguna Miguna must make fresh application for citizenship, a move he dismisses as 'violation of court orders'.

On Wednesday, Miguna cancelled his tour back to Kenya after the government failed to facilitate his return pursuant to numerous court orders.

Duale's remarks have yet again given a hint on the standoff between DP William Ruto and Uhuru, with the latter said to be in support of Sonko.
