Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has come under sharp critiscm from a section of Rift Valley leaders, who have told him to respect the family of former President Daniel Moi, and keep off Kalenjin politics.
“We were shocked that he can utter such words so recklessly before Kenyans in the eyes of cameras, that General Mohammed helped Mzee Moi in the bush,” said Jonathan Bii, Rift Valley Kanu Coordinator.
“Those are disrespectful words, words which can break the unity of leaders and locals of the Kalenjin community,” he added.
The leaders felt the MP overstepped his mandate, and should have been careful with his choice of words.
"We want to tell Duale that if he can't handle politics, go and look after the camels, and stop moving in and around Rift Valley. We can stand on our own as Kalenjins, and we’ve always managed to,” added Kipchirchir.
This comes after Duale claimed that his father-in-law helped the former president during the 1982 attempted coup, a statement that was seen as an indirect attack on Senator Gideon Moi.
"And my brother Gideon, the old man who I have married his daughter, General Muhammed, picked your father (Daniel Arap Moi) from a bush, in the 1982 coup. We carried your father, the both of us. So it is your turn to support William Ruto,'' added the Garissa Township MP.
Duale was speaking during the burial ceremony of the late nominated MP, Mark Too, in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
