Majority leader Aden Duale has urged communities living in Garissa County to cooperate with security officers in order to combat the increasing incidences of terror attacks in the region.
Speaking during a fundraiser at Ademasaajida ward, the outspoken politician highlighted the importance of the community when it comes to security of the region.
The county has suffered greatly in the hands of terrorists, with one of the deadliest terrorist attacks witnessed in the nation’s history happening when Al- Shabaab millitants stormed Garissa University on April 2, 2015 and claimed lives of 147 innocent students.
Duale also lauded the Jubilee government for spearheading development in the county. "Nunow -Madogashe road will be finished end of 2016. Mandera-Elwak road is already on course and the certificate for Madogasge-Wajir road will be issued within this month," he said.
He also warned leaders who were luring residents to support Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) to desist from the same, saying the locals will only look to re-elect the current government.
The outspoken leader has been on the forefront in wooing residents to stand with Uhuruto government in the next general elections, challenging the opposition not to fault the government for failures of past regimes.
"Ask us what we haven't done, not what wasn't been done decades ago. This government will be inclusive and irrespective of party affiliations," he said.
