Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has warned counties allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) against attempts to finance the opposition’s people’s assembly using taxpayer’s money.

Duale in a letter to the Office of the Controller of Budget wants NASA Counties to be monitored to ensure that they don’t use their allocated funds to fund opposition activities.

The MP alleges that some counties in Nyanza and Western region where people’s assembly motion has been passed could be using taxpayer’s money to push the opposition agenda.

The leader of Majority in the National Assembly further alleges that NASA could be eyeing taxpayer’s money to push for secession.

“Caution and monitor usage of public funds in all counties to ensure that taxpayers money is used as per the approved budget,” Duale says in a letter seen by the Star to the Controller of Budget.

The Garissa Township MP also wants the Controller of Budget to create a work plan that will guard against the unnecessary withdrawal of taxpayers money.

Duale said that they (Jubilee government) will not allow taxpayer’s money meant for development to be used to fund political party activities.

The MP said that NASA has not yet accounted for the campaign money and donations it received from some Kenyans and it could be planning to raid county coffers for funding.

NASA is pushing for the creation of people’s assembly across the 47 counties in efforts to fore for fresh presidential election.

A section of opposition politicians is also pushing for secession which they say is the solution to the marginalization of some communities in the country.

NASA leader Raila Odinga who has been in the United States (US) for the last one and half weeks is expected in the country on Friday.

Raila is expected to continue the push creation people’s assembly agenda and assess the effectiveness of the economic boycott.
