According to Duale, it is unacceptable for school heads to defy President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive over the matter as the government seeks for a long lasting solution to drought in different parts of the country.

Duale also said that most of the parents and guardians in drought hit areas can no longer afford to pay fees for their children since they do not have other sources of income.

He further said that school heads who will defy the order will be held accountable.

“Failure to follow the presidential directive or your immediate boss amounts to insubordination. The head teachers are aware of this,” Duale said on Monday, as quoted by the Star.

He further said that the Jubilee government is dedicated to ensure that no student drops out of school as the nation seeks to attain vision 2030.

The outspoken leaders was responding to reports by some parents that some schools have been sending their children home for fees despite the directive from the government.

School heads have, however, expressed concerned over the directive saying that they are likely to be forced to close down the institutions if they follow the order.
