Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has waded into the Duale-Ruto saga by defending the national assembly majority leader over his comments on county funding.
The MP has told off those condemning Aden Duale saying that he said nothing wrong in telling Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto that public resources are not private property.
Ichung’wa who was speaking in his Kikuyu constituency added that Duale was quoted out of context and he was not being disrespectful to the women and mothers of Kenya.
“What Duale was basically telling Ruto was that public funds are not personal,” Ichung’wa said.
The legislator added that those criticising Duale are just making mountain out of a mole hill.
“They should desist from threatening Duale since there is nothing out of the ordinary that he said,” the first time MP said.
Ichung’wa’s comments come as a number of legislators drawn from both Jubilee and Cord coalitions have come out to condemn Duale’s outbursts in Narok on Monday. Those opposed say that Duale’s sentiments were disrespectful and misplaced.
Duale however maintains that he owes no one an apology as Ruto vowed to continue advocating for the ‘Pesa Mashinani’ referendum.
