This comes after a report by the budget committee released on Thursday called for the scrapping or strengthening of the Senate.
The Garissa Township MP wants a dialogue conference to discuss how to reduce the bloated government structure.
“This county must face reality. We must ask ourselves how many MCAs or wards we require. Are these close to 800 MCAs important?” Duale said yesterday.
He said MPs could probably be reduced from the current 349 to 210, the number in the last Parliament.
“Is the bicameral Parliament necessary? Can one house do the function of both houses? Do we need the Senate or do we need to amend certain clauses of the Constitution that we felt were very bad during the referendum?”
Duale said the nation might need to dialogue on the wage bill after the election and he said that 60% of the wage bill should be geared towards development.
