National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale says Kenyan lose in her bid to secure African Union Commission chairperson seat was due to poor relationship between Francophone and Anglophone nations.
Foreign Affairs cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed lost to Moussa Mahamat in a hotly contested elections on Monday.
The Kenyan delegation had used millions of resources to secure the most lucrative seat in African continent.
"I don't think we performed that poor because we gave a good challenge, losing by three votes. We won in round five but voting had to continue," he said.
Duale added: "The French speaking nations ganged against English speaking nations and there numbers worked perfectly."
Duale also seemed to blame neighbouring Uganda and Rwanda for abandoning Kenya at its time of 'need' by voting rival nations.
Chad was the eventual winner by securing 38 votes after round seven of voting in which 15 countries abstained from voting.
