National Assembly Majority leader, Aden Duale has asked teachers who fled Garissa County, due to insecurity, to return.
Duale said the region is now safe and secure.
The teachers fled the county following the terror attacks conducted by the Al-Shabaab militia group.
In April last year, over 147 people, the majority of the students from Garissa University, were killed in an Al-Shabaab attack in the college.
Duale, however, praised non-local teachers who resumed duty even after other their colleagues vowed not to return to the county. He said the teachers have played a big role in helping students from Garissa excel in their exams, therefore, achieving their dreams.
‘‘You teachers have played a big role towards the success achieved by our students. You decided not to abandon your students. You decided to teach them passionately as you could have done to your biological sons and daughters. They passed their KCSE because of your help. I personally celebrate you. I can say you are my heroes. The students know that you are their heroes,’’ said Duale.
