Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has warned residents against voting for aspirants with questionable integrity in the forthcoming August 8 polls.
Addressing supporters at Garissa Primary School on Sunday, Duale asked residents to reject all politicians who have been mentioned and linked to graft and abuse of office.
Duale said that some aspirants’ eyeing seats in Garissa and the larger North Eastern region are not fit to hold public office.
The National Assembly leader of majority said that it will be disastrous if people with questionable integrity are allowed to hold public office.
“I want to tell Garissa people and Kenyans at large to be watchful and vet aspirant thoroughly to ensure they pass the integrity test before voting for them,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Duale said that all aspirants have to meet the requirements of Chapter six of the constitution on Integrity.
The Jubilee MP also asked residents to reject politicians who do not have realistic development agenda.
Duale said that some aspirants are joy riders and only want to get positions for their selfish interests.
The MP said that time has come for Kenyans to vote for leaders who will push for their interests.
Meanwhile, Duale says that his re-election is a done deal. The National Assembly leader of majority claims that he has no competition to worry about.
Duale dismissed his fierce rival Farah Maalim, saying that he has no numbers to unseat him.
Maalim on the other hand has vowed to send Duale packing in the August 8 polls. The former National assembly deputy speaker is contesting on Wiper party ticket.
