President Uhuru Kenyatta has revoked the appointment of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale’s brother.

The President, in a special May 23 gazette notice, revoked Mr Abdi Bare Duale’s appointment to the board of directors at Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

President Kenyatta appointed Mr Charles Makori Omanga to replace Mr Bare as a member of the board, who will serve until June 2020.

The president appointed former Head of Civil Service Mr Francis Muthaura as the chairman of KRA while revoking the appointment of former Planning Permanent Secretary Edward Sambili.

Mr Sambili has been serving in that position since 2016 and he will be replaced by Mr Muthaura who will serve until October 20, 2019.

Other new faces include auditor Mukesh Shah, Eng Leonard Ithau and former KCB Bank chairperson Susan Mudhune who have been appointed to the KRA board.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (3) of the State Corporation Act and section 6(2) (a) of the Kenya Revenue Authority Act, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander-in-chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Francis K. Muthaura to be the chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority,” said the President in the Gazette notice as quoted by a local publication.
