The Leader of Majority in parliament Aden Duale on Wednesday appeared before the court, where he defended himself in a case challenging his win.
The Garissa Township Member of Parliament's win was challenged by his closest rival Farah Maalim, after the former’s win in the August elections.
And on Wednesday, the vocal Jubilee got a chance to defend his win, rubbishing Maalim’s alleged irregularities during the exercise.
In his testimony, Duale said the election was free and fair and done in accordance with the Constitution.
“Even NASA supporters voted for me. I was re-elected because of my good track record. Claims that I bribed voters are false,” said Duale.
He also denied knowing or getting involved in the recruitment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials during the election.
“I am popular across Garissa Town constituency, therefore, I was not involved in the recruitment of the returning officers because that’s IEBC work,” he said.
Maalim, in his petition, said Duale was involved in picking officials, some who were from his clan, to help in rigging him in.
“That’s hearsay provide evidence, I can account for all the activities of my brothers on that particular day,” said Duale.
Both parties have been directed to file their final submissions and appear in court on January 11 to highlight their submissions before court delivers its verdict.
