National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has exuded confidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will retain their seats after the fresh election set for October 26.
Duale said the inroads the ruling party was making in opposition strongholds had paid off and challenged the Raila Odinga-led coalition to a contest later this month."The only way to measure the strength of a political party is through an election. They are saying the same things they said before the August 8 elections and now they don't have a single MP in Kisii. I dare them to participate in the coming polls," he told The Standard on Sunday. The MP further told the NASA presidential candidate to stop blaming the Safaricom and IEBC, adding that Raila should throw in the towel if he is not ready to face President Uhuru Kenyatta on the ballot."Preparations for the election are in top gear. If Raila does not want to participate, then let him write to IEBC so Kenyans can decide what next. You cannot say you will participate and then change your mind midway," he was further quoted by the local daily.Raila has maintained there will be no election if their 'irreducible minimum' demands are not met by the electoral agency.
