Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale has urged the Muslim community to support President Uhuru Kenyatta in his efforts to fight graft in the country.
Duale rallied behind Uhuru's order for all public servants to undergo lifestyle audit and urged the Muslims to back the Head of State who has taken war on corruption a notch higher.
"I ask the Muslim Umma to join President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fight against corruption and misuse of public resources thus support the initiative of public and state officers from the President to the office messenger to undergo lifestyle audit," Duale said.
Uhuru on Thursday announced that all public officers, including himself and Deputy President William Ruto will undergo the same exercise where they will be put task to explain their source of wealth.
Speaking when he joined thousands of Muslim faithfuls in marking the end of Ramadhan and praying the Eid ul Fitr prayers at Sir Ali Sports Grounds in Nairobi, the National Assembly Leader inisisted that it was against the teachings of Quran to give bribe and accumulate wealth unjustly.
"Islam forbids stealing public or private resources. Every Muslim must account for wealth and deeds hence an obligatory to pay 'zaaka' annually from his 'halal' (clean) wealth," Duale stated.
