Speaking to journalists and supporters outside the Milimani law courts on Tuesday, Duale said that he anticipated the favourable ruling.

Duale said that his re-election last year was 100 percent fair and transparent, noting that Farah Maalim's petition was based on malice.

"I am grateful that the court made the ruling based on evidence and not speculations," he said.

The Garissa Township MP said that his focus will be now to continue serving the Garissa people.

The National Assembly leader of majority extended an olive branch to Maalim, saying that he is ready to work with him in delivering services to the Garissa people.

" We are not enemies and I urge Maalim to partner with me in serving the great people of Garissa," he added.

The High court upheld Duale's re-election, saying that he was validly re-elected.

High court Judge Hedwig Ongudi slapped the petitioner (Farah Maalim) with Sh 6 million fine as the cost of the petition.

Maalim petitioned Duale's re-election, alleging that the election was marred by massive irregularities and illegalities.

The former Lagdera MP in his petition accused Duale of campaigning and allegedly dishing out money on the voting day.

The Wiper Party deputy leader asked the court to nullify the results, saying that it did not reflect the wish and the will of the people.

Duale in his final submissions last month, dismissed Maalim’s petition saying it is was based on malice.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Duale the winner of the Garissa seat in last year’s election.

According to IEBC results, Duale garnered 22,587 votes against Maalim’s 14,897 votes.
