National Assembly Leader of Majority and Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale's next move in the 2022 general elections will obviously attract national attention.
The vocal lawmaker has been in the front line in pushing for the Jubilee government's agenda, earning him popularity as one of the most vocal elected leaders in the nation.
With the elections approaching, Duale has a number of political choices, all of whose realization will depend on his relationship with the electorate.
With politics being an upward spiral, Duale is likely to try his hands on something new this time, and has the liberty to go for the Garissa senatorial slot.
This will mark a promotion to the leader who currently sits in the lower legislative house.
He could as well take a bigger leap to the gubernatorial post, a seat that, however, if he wins, is likely to take away some of his current characteristics, including his regular attacks on quarters deemed opposed to the government's moves.
The gubernatorial seat will put him in charge of a bigger area and being an executive position, will, to some extent, deprive him of the ability to defend the government as he will be more involved in streamlining his own government.
Similarly, Duale could decide to once again vie to defend his current seat, one which is also likely to attract more contestants.
