Majority Leader Aden Duale has sensationally claimed that he convinced Raila Odinga to appoint Suna East MP Junet Mohammed as Minority Chief Whip in National Assembly.
A jovial Duale, who has been a fierce critic of Odinga, despite the latter having been instrumental in his political career.
"I wish to congratulate my brother Junet Mohammed for his appointment as Minority Chief Whip. He deserved the position," said Daule on Thursday.
He added: "By the way he owes me something. I personally called Baba (Raila) and lobbied for him. Maybe my voice was heard."
Considered as one of the most influential position, Junet, who also doubles as ODM Director of elections, will be in charge of discipline in the National Assembly.
Duale was first elected to parliament in 2007 to represent Dujis on ODM ticket before capturing Garissa Town seat on URP which was later dissolved to form Jubilee.
At a past rally, Raila is on record for claiming that he personally used his resources to enable Duale win in Dujis despite their acrimonious fallout in 2012.
