The MP who has had his victory upheld today by Milimani High Court Judge Hedwig Ongundi said that he now feels free to serve the people with more vigour.

The legislator hailed the court ruling saying that indeed the petitioner's allegations were baseless as only scanty evidence was presented.

In a statement he posted on his Twitter account shortly after the judgment, he further thanked his lawyers who included Senior counsel lawyer Ahmedinasir Abdullahi for a job well done.

He said the victory is also for the residents of Garissa town constituency who turned up in large numbers to vote for him on last year's August 8 elections.

"This win is for the people of Garissa who endured long queues to make sure they elected the leader of their choice," said Duale.

Judge Ongundi in his ruling directed Petitioner Farah Maalim to pay Sh. 6 Million being the cost of the case.H e cited inadequate evidence as the reason why the petition was dismissed.

Maalim wanted the court to nullify the election on grounds that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) failed to carry out the election in accordance with the law and that there were cases of voter bribery which interfered with the results.
