Uasin Gishu County Executive in charge of Environment, Tourism and Natural Resource Mary Njogu has put on notice individuals and companies dumping wastes in Sosiani River.
Speaking during a cleanup exercise at Sosiani River organized by the Leo Club Eldoret Chapter, Njogu said those who will be found will face the full force of the law."It's sad that despite us working hard to clean Sosiani river there are some individual derailing our efforts, I want to give a stern warning to such individuals that they will be arrested and charged on the same," said Njogu."We really need to restore the glory of Sosiani River and such combined efforts will definitely take this resource back to its original state. Our aim is to ensure Sosiani regains its lost glory,” she added.The Environment County Executive also hailed the Leo Club Eldoret Chapter for their noble course of making the river clean.“It is so rare to find a young team of your kind having such kind of thoughts. I am so much impressed by what you are doing and as a County Government, we are going to support you fully,” said Njogu.She, however, revealed that during the April short rains, her department is going to partner with the Leo Chapter to plant trees along the banks of the River.Leo Club Eldoret Chapter president Yash Kachel pledged to work with the County in ensuring that Eldoret is the cleanest town that will attract investors globally.The cleanup exercise which has been going on is set up to continue across every part of the County.To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your Whatsapp number to 0740949990.
