Kisii county government has identified a site where it will set up a mega-dumpsite to deal with the issue of garbage disposal in the county
Governor James Ongwae said talks are ongoing to set up a dumpsite in the country that will address the issue of haphazard disposal of garbage.
“We have a challenge of garbage disposal in our county. We have identified a site and discussions are ongoing with owners in order to have a place we can dump garbage,” said the governor.
Ongwae revealed that the site would be ready in two months time and will address the issue of garbage disposal that has been a challenge in the county for a long time.
He said they have had a number of bilateral talks with the private sector in a public private partnership programme in order to discuss further development projects.
“I am happy that our towns are well lit with the free solar energy in the public private partnership. We are currently in discussion to see what other projects we can run together under this partnership,” noted Governor.
He asked residents and leaders to support him and desist from petty politics aimed at derailing development.
Ongwae was speaking yesterday in Kisii town in a Devolution Conference organised by the county to highlight some of the achievements made since its inception.
