Residents of Dundori Community Forest Association have been warned against acquiring land through corrupt means.
The region has over the past experienced controversy on land ownership prompting the area MP Kimani Ngunjiri to visit the region on Friday in a bid to solve the problem.
Speaking to the area locals, Ngunjiri urged people from the region to be watchful and report those engaging in corruption when acquiring land so that staunch action can be taken against them.
"I don’t want to come back and solve the same land issues. It is the high time you take the issue more seriously and identify those corrupt individuals who are fuelling corruption in this region which will assist fight these wrangles," Ngunjiri said.
The MP said he was disappointed to learn that land disputes are still being experienced in the region despite his efforts in collaboration with the government of slicing some pieces of the forest land to allow the locals settle peacefully.
"I remember allocating you 200 acres of land from the forest to settle after lengthy discussions with the government. It seems, however that these disputes won't end which is quite disappointing and I can assure you that I will not allow it to continue," Ngunjiri said.
He also encouraged the residents to enhance food security in the region by avoiding wrangles and corruption when applying for forest land.
