East Africa Community Legislative Assembly (EALA) Speaker Daniel Kidega has indicated political stability in East African Community (EAC), depends on how member Countries will handle the high unemployment rates.

He said EAC can only achieve its objectives, by fighting corruption and promoting good governance.

Kadega also said increased population in EAC, which stands at 160 million, is a time bomb waiting to explode if the East Africa Countries fail to create environment that will see manufacturing industries thrive.

According to him, this would create employment among the youth.

Kidega expressed fear over the high unemployment and underemployment in the region, adding that seven out of 10 people are jobless, while six out of 10 live in informal settlements.

He was speaking during the launch of the 10th inter-parliamentary games over the weekend, in Mombasa.
