The Government is under pressure to act on the alleged multi-billion shillings scandal in the health sector, with the latest calls coming from the Civil Society .
The group led by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) claims that the situation has been worsened by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC), which they accuse of cleansing senior public officials accused of graft .
Davis Malombe the KHRC’s Deputy Executive Director said part their efforts was to push for the resignation, arrest and prosecution of those accused of stealing public funds.
“The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has failed to effectively and independently deliver on its key mandate; law enforcement, investigation and corruption prevention in the discharge of its functions,” he said.
Malombe added that most of the graft cases have failed to be successfully prosecuted due to bogus investigations by the establishments within the criminal justice.
