Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission chairman Philip Kisisu has resigned.
This comes in the wake of a Parliamentary Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs recommendation that suggested that Mr Kinisu be removed from office over his alleged involvement in a business partnership with NYS, an agency dogged by corruption.
Kinisu's company, Esaki Limited was one of the many companies that were involved in transactions with NYS where Sh791 million was allegedly lost.
The Parliamentary Committee recommended that retaining Kinisu at the helm of the Commission will be 'dangerous' because of conflict of interest as Esaki Limited is one of the companies that the Commission is supposed to investigate.
"I maintain that the company and I are innocent over the allegations made," Kinisu said after announcing his resignation.
His future now as the head of the anti-corruption body lies with President Uhuru Kenyatta who will form a tribunal to investigate him.
