The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has formed a five member team, to conduct an audit in procedures and practices, policies, systems, and policies in the pricing of pharmaceutical and non pharmaceutical supplies in the Public Health Sector.

This follows concerns raised by the Society for International Development (SID) and Transparency International - Kenya.

The organisations complained that some supplies in the health sector are procured at high costs, therefore burdening consumers, by selling to them at same or extra costs.

EACC Deputy Chief Executive Officer Michael Mubea indicated: "The pricing of pharmaceutical and non pharmaceutical supplies in the health sector is critical in determining the overall success in the health sector.''

Addressing the press, he noted the established five member team will come up with recommendations at the end of their investigations, to ensure the government gets value for money, to safeguard public resources.

Health Cabinet secretary Dr Cleopa Mailu called on relevant institutions and departments to cooperate with the audit team, to help curb cases of corruption in the Ministry.

They addressed the press, Tuesday, in Nairobi.
