Two days after the release of the most corrupt counties in Kenya by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kisii Governor James Ongwae has strongly opposed the report.
The report which named Kisii County as one of the most corrupt counties made headlines in media and trended all over social media. However, Ongwae said his county is not corrupt.
In his defence, Ongwae said the information gotten by EACC was given by dissatisfied county government suppliers. He said the research could have involved the suppliers who are not patient since they had not been paid their dues.
‘’The report does not reflect anything on the ground. It is unfair to judge us using sentiments given by people who are having strained relationships with the county government. To me, the report is unfair,’’ said Ongwae.
He revealed that his county does not support corruption, therefore, EACC saying Kisii is the second most corruption county breaks his heart.
‘’I don’t support corruption at all. My county officials are against it,’’ he added.
