The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is probing the misuse of public funds and illegal hiring of county staff in Kisii County.
This is according to EACC commissioner Rose Macharia who said the agency will not rest until it completes corruption in Kisii County.
"Kisii County has hired workers illegally without following the law. We have focused to investigate the loss of funds meant for development projects in Kisii region to ensure anyone found guilty is dealt with as by the rule of law,” she said.
According to her, some county employees are being investigated also after they issued fake licenses to illicit liquor sellers.
Ms Macharia also faulted the County Assembly Members for giving a deaf ear to pieces of advice they have been giving on matters corruption.
"County MCAs should be at the forefront fighting corruption which leads to misuse and misappropriation of development funds. MCAs who engage in corruption are abusing the mandate they were given by the electorates," she said.
Nyanza regional EACC officer Abraham Kemboi assured that corrupt officers will be arraigned in court.
Kemboi noted that even if it takes a year or more EACC is determined to end embezzlement of public funds.
