Kazungu says that the EACC wrongly implicated him in the corruption list that was given to President Uhuru Kenyatta in March last year.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Sunday, Kazungu said that he did not inflate rates in the Tassia Project as the EACC had claimed.

The former CS stated that EACC did not conduct extensive investigations before recommending for his prosecution.

“The EACC implicate me wrongly in corruption allegations in regards to the Tassia Project,” he said during the interview.

He added that he would have been in government if the EACC had done its work well, and called on the agency to conduct its work as per the constitution.

“Before naming people in graft scams, the EACC should ensure that it has adequate information,” he added.

Kazungu was among several Cabinet Secretaries who were asked to step aside after they were named in corruption allegations in a list that was presented to President Uhuru in March last year.

Among the CS’s that were asked to step aside were former Lands Charity Ngilu, Transport Michael Kamau and Agriculture Felix Koskei.

Kazugu was however cleared of the corruption allegations by the Director of Public Prosecutions, who said that there was no sufficient evidence to charge Kambi with abuse of office.

The former CS was recently appointed as the national chairman to the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
