The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) says a total of 16,140 political candidates have submitted their self-declaration forms for clearance.

Chairman, former ACK Archbishop Eliud Wabukala said Jubilee Party's President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nasa presidential flag bearer, Raila Odinga, are among them.

Eleven of of the 16,140 candidates are presidential aspirants, 263 governorship aspirants, and 91 deputy governors. 333 are senatorial race aspirants, 1,964 Member of Parliament hopefuls, 361 Woman Representative aspirants, while 12,913 are Members of County Assembly (MCA) hopefuls.

In the declaration forms, aspirants are told whether they ever engaged in any dishonest conduct of public affairs, misrepresented information to the public, abused a public office, or misused public resources.

Speaking during the launch of EACC Action Plan, Wednesday, Wabukala indicated the Commission would forward recommendations on candidates whose integrity is questionable, to the electoral agency- IEBC, for further action.
