The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has recommended that five governors be prosecuted over allegations of corruption.
Through the Commission boss Halakhe Waqo, EACC said that county governments were on the spot after emerging as the most corrupt administrations in the recent past.
Although Waqo declined to mention the names of affected governors, he said that the matter is now before Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) after the commission directed him to hold the county bosses accountable for their deeds.
According to Waqo, two of the said governors have already taken plea over cases related to corruption.
"The five had not appeared in court to plead to the charges since they had obtained orders in court to stop their arrest," he said.
"Graft thrives in procurement, finance, public service board, road and public works departments," he added.
The commission chair revealed procurement irregularities, bribery, conflict of interest in the awarding of tenders as well as political influence in tendering as being among the key forms of corruption at the devolved governments.
