Nyamira County MCAs have been warned misappropriation of public funds.
Nyamira County senator Okong’o Omogeni said EACC will camp in the county in the next five years to ensure no single cent is wasted on ghost projects at the ward level.
“MCAs who have intentions to embezzle public funds should know that EACC officers will be behind them. Any money sent to the ward to launch and initiate projects should be used appropriately. MCAs diverting funds to their own pockets risks arrest and prosecution,” he said.
The senator urged MCAs to form a committee to manage county funds at the ward levels to bring development into the grassroots.
“MCAs should form a committee which should comprise people whose integrity is not questionable to manage county funds such as bursary for transparency and fairness in allocation of the funds among students.
"Rogue contractors should also be denied tenders as well as MCAs relatives because we want equality in allocation of tenders among the residents of Nyamira to improve the livelihoods,” he added.
