Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairman Bishop Eliud Wabukala wants the commission to be given more powers to prosecute offenders.

He said this will in a big way help in the fight against corruption since implicated will be prosecuted without delays.

“As the Anti-corruption commission, our hands are tired since our work is just to investigate thereafter forwards our findings to the office if the Director of Public Prosecution. The law needs to be amended to give EACC the ability to prosecute cases,” he said in Eldoret town after meeting EACC officials from the North Rift region, Friday.

“If we are really serious that we want to fight this menace the law must be changed since its sad that after investigating a case it takes ages for the person involved to be prosecuted thus derailing our efforts to fight corruption,” he added.

Wabukala revealed that they have been able to recover assets worth Sh374 million and Sh134 million in his time in office.

“I urge Kenyans to help us in the fight against corruption by not giving or receiving bribes,” noted Wabukala.
