The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned four Members of Nyeri County Assembly involved in a fight at the assembly on Tuesday.
Githaiga Njoroge (Rugi), Hudson Gicheru (Mukurwe-ini Central), Paul Ngiria (Chinga) and Stephen Mwaniki (Dedan Kimathi) were escorted by their colleagues to the EACC offices in Nyeri town to record statements.
Speaking to journalists, EACC Regional Director Jackson Mue said they summoned the MCAs following complaints by the public over their brawl.
“The MCAs have been accused of violating Chapter Six of the Constitution in regards to their integrity and leadership,” Mr Mue said.
He said they are investigating whether the MCAs committed any of the offenses under the chapter.
Baragu Mutahi Kiganjo Ward MCA, who is fronting a motion to impeach Governor Nderitu Gachagua said the move to summon members was a ploy to intimidate them to drop the motion.
