The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC) is set to conduct a lifestyle audit on National and County Government officers.
This is aimed at dealing with increased corruption that has derailed service delivery in the country.Sophie Lepuchirit, EACC vice chairperson disclosed that the comprehensive audit will help identify and tame overnight millionaires especially in the devolved governments.
The vice chair noted that youth below the 25 years old are now living a lavish lifestyle by constructing skyscrapers and driving luxurious vehicles, adding that the audit will seek to establish the source of their riches.Lepuchirit also revealed that there is an active asset recovery department within the commission that has already successfully recovery of property worth billions of shillings that was acquired illegally.
The vice chair was speaking on Saturday in Isiolo where she engaged new County Executive Committee members and County directors during a two-day induction forum on leadership and integrity.
Isiolo County CEC’s became the first officers in the country to sign the Code of Conduct.
This announcement came a day after the EACC chief executive officer, Halakhe Waqo accused the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the judiciary for failing the commission in its war against graft.
