The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) is set to initiate investigations into the ticketing department of the Kenya Ferry Services.
According to Simon Cherpka, Mombasa branch EACC chief, the team will probe and monitor KFS officials said to have engaged in swindling millions of shillings from the parastatal body.
The KFS officials are accused of using backdated tickets and doctoring charges on long distance vehicles using the ferry channel to transport large cargo to Tanzania.
Speaking on Wednesday, Cherpka said his team was already acting on multiple complaints aired by ferry users.
He further said that the procurement and accounting offices would also be investigated.
The commission is also investigating the purchase of new ferries expected to be delivered in February, next year.
It is alleged that the tendering processes were marred with massive corruption.
