Secondary school principals in have promised to improve services in their schools after being trained by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The EACC officers took the secondary schools’ heads in a training session in order to prevent misuse of funds that would be distributed to their schools under government’s free secondary education program.

The training took place in a Dining Hall at AIC Moi girls secondary school in Maralal town, Samburu county.

The principals were trained on financial records keeping and management in their schools and procedures that ought to be followed while buying goods and services for their schools in order to avoid misuse of funds.

The EACC officers who trained the principals warned that a legal action could be taken against any school head that is found to have participated in corrupt deals.

Mrs. Alice Gituru, Principal at AIC Moi girls secondary school said the training has left principals with important skills that would enable them to deliver the best services at a lower cost.

“As principals, we have learned a lot on how we should keep financial records in our schools, we have also been taught on cost-cutting in procurement while getting items that we need through at least a cheaper method,” she said.
