Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is pursuing him for saving his people and the entire nation millions of shillings.
Speaking in Embu town over the weekend where he was popularizing Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement, Mutua claimed that the country is not ready for true leadership.
“The Kenyan system is not ready for true servant leadership. And that’s why they are coming after me. They are forgetting the horse has already bolted and that our people cannot wait any longer. Time is out of joint,” he said.
The governor also welcomed leaders who want to contest on MCC to jump unto the bandwagon stating that they will field candidates in various positions except for the presidency. His sentiments come a few weeks after a court cleared the way for his prosecution over procurement irregulaties related to the purchase of second hand automobiles for the county in 2013.
Mutua, who is looking forward to defend his seat in the next general elections, has been recognized among the best performing governor in the entire nation.
The Machakos gubernatorial race has attracted various candidates including former Kathiani Member of Parliament Wavinya Ndeti, who buried her Nigerian husband on Saturday.
