Speaking during the Citizen's Power Breakfast show on Thursday, Kennedy said the unity among East African countries is good for this nation and its neighbors.

Kennedy said there are different things that the East African countries share.

“It is very exciting to see how we can grow East Africa in the vision of the founding fathers. We have more similarities than those we are aware of,” he said.

He further called for more cooperation among East African nations.

"We need to have more of cultural exchange and sports. I am a firm believer that sports are a big unifier and I am looking forward to the day where we will have an East African premier league that will be one way of encouraging integration,” Kennedy said.

EALA brings together leaders from Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Kalonzo’s son, a graduate from University of New Castle in New South Wales, Australia, was nominated to the East African house despite facing resistance from different factions.

The Law graduate had an uphill task convincing parliament that he has what it takes to represent Kenya at the assembly.

He, however, sailed through after getting support from Jubilee MPs.

A number of leaders criticized the move, they argued that the former Vice President's son was riding on his father’s influence to be nominated to EALA.

The house discusses different issues in regard to the region's empowerment.
